Wear it with pride knowing that you are helping to keep the legacy of Hay’s own King Richard Booth alive. In the 70s Richard Booth set up the world’s largest second hand bookshop in Hay & made it a ‘book town.’ Riding through Hay on his horse – the ‘Prime Minister’- he declared himself King and Hay an Independent Kingdom, and in 1976 was Rural Wales' biggest tourist attraction.

Brighton based Punk Archivist & Author of the Sex Pistols book ‘Satellite’, Paul Burgess has worked as a photographer & graphic designer with the likes of the Sex Pistols, Jarvis Cocker, Pulp, Wrangler and Creep Show.

Paul is a principle lecturer in Brighton, contributes regularly to various music and design publications and is a Kingdom Project curator.

This is a dual arts and community project, 100% of the profits will go to Hay On Wye’s Kingdom Project. Kingdom is built on the foundation of Richard Booth’s legacy and salutes his eccentricity, energy and sheer genius at turning around the economic fortune of the town.
